Darkness, Seeds, and the Delivery Room
Hey friend! In our first two stops along this trail, we looked at the kitchen glass and the literal bones protecting our chest to find the Creator’s signature. Today we are stepping outside into the garden soil and then stepping straight into the intensity of the delivery room, to unmask two of the most spectacular, living parables of the Gospel. Modern, high-anxiety religion loves to tell you that when your life enters a season of heavy darkness, pain, or crushing limitation, you are being punished. They want you to panic and look for an escape. But if you look at the natural design of creation, you realize that the Creator always uses the darkest, messiest struggles to birth His greatest victories.
Think about a tiny seed buried in the dirt.

From the outside, it looks like a tragedy. The seed is completely isolated, buried under heavy clods of cold, suffocating earth. It is trapped in total darkness. But the darkness isn’t a graveyard–it is a womb! For that seed to fulfill its destiny its old outer shell must be put under pressure, crack open; and completely die. Only when the old form is shattered can the roots shoot downward and a vibrant, green, fruit bearing life rise up triumphantly into the open air.
The Master Potter hardcoded this exact “Resurrection Code” into every single plant, flower, and crop that feeds this planet. The darkness isn’t the end of your story; it is simply the staging ground for a brand-new beginning.
And we see this exact same “Redemption Pattern” written directly into the human experience of childbirth.

Ask any mother about the reality of labor. It is a grueling, exhausting, and messy crucible. It is a time of intense pain, hard breathing, and tracking the clock through waves of sheer physical limitation. There is nothing clinical or polished about the delivery room–honesty is messy there. Yet, what happens the exact split-second that grueling labor is completed?
The very moment that tiny, fresh new life is placed directly into the mother’s arm, the heavy shadow of the struggle instantly evaporates. It is completely swallowed up by an unhurried, overwhelming tidal wave of pure love, laughter, and breathless gratitude. The agony is instantly redeemed by the arrival of the inheritance. This is the glorious heartbeat of the New Covenant that shatters every fear-porn headline of this world.
Jesus used these exact natural images to comfort His disciples before He faced the cross, telling them that a grain of wheat must fall into the ground and die to bear fruit, and that a woman in labor has sorrow because her hour has come, but as soon as she gives birth, she no longer remembers the anguish for joy that a human being has been born into the world.
If you are walking through a heavy caregiver fire, a family storm, or a season when you feel completely buried in the dark, take a deep breath. You are not trapped in a cemetery. The Potter is simply working the soil of your life. The pressure you feel is just the old shell cracking away to make room for an unhurried, beautiful manifestation of His grace along the shore.
